The problem
A family had bought eleven acres of exhausted grape land and wanted a garden. The soil could not have supported one for a decade.
Our approach
We planted native scrub and grasses, cut four swales along the contour to hold monsoon runoff, and built exactly three things: a pavilion, a stair, and a bench at the ridge. The landscape does the rest.
